Reflexology

Reflexology is a non invasive therapy which is performed on either the feet or hands.

Reflexology involves using special manipulation a with varying degree of pressure to provide benefit for the client that are both physical and emotional.

The theory behind Reflexology is that there are reflex zones in the feet which are linked by energy pathways to corresponding parts of the body. Therefore when pressure is applied it stimulates the movement of energy along these pathways.

Reflexology can help stimulates the body to produce endorphins which is the body’s natural pain killer. This is done by stimulating the pituitary gland reflex which may increase the levels of endorphins in the body.  In addition the relaxation effect of a reflexology treatment may also help to relieve muscle tension though out the whole body.

Reflexology relaxes the whole body which may help the blood supply to flow more easily.   Reflexology can help to improve the function of the lymphatic system. It detoxifies, cleanses and stimulates (Susan Cressy 2002) the various excretory systems to help rid the body of toxins.
